New arrival Harper has joined fellow white-cheeked gibbon Duffy in the Oregon Zoo's Primate Forest, where they share a habitat with the orangutan family.

Harper and Duffy immediately started interacting and have been exploring the habitat together. White-cheeked gibbons bond through grooming, playing, swinging from trees, and singing to each other.

Harper is a female gibbon, which means she will turn white or tan as she grows older. Soon, orangutans Kitra, Bob, and Jolene will join them. Duffy is known for his playful behavior, especially with 1-year-old Jolene, and it is predicted that Harper will also be a fun companion.

Harper was born at Disney's Animal Kingdom and was recommended to move to the Oregon Zoo by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan to promote genetically diverse populations of at-risk species.

White-cheeked gibbons are critically endangered due to poaching and habitat loss caused by illegal logging and agriculture. It is essential to protect and conserve these incredible creatures and their habitats.
